An experienced centre half who signed a short-term deal on the eve on the new season and will add valuable experience to the centre of the U's defence.
A former team-mate and well-known to both Gary Brabin and Paul Carden, 31-year-old Bolland's football career began at Altrincham while he was studying at University. He moved to Southport in 1997 and then into the Football League with Oxford United in 2001. He made a £15,000 switch to Chester City in 2002 and had four years there, playing alongside both Brabin and Carden at various times, winning the Conference alongside Carden in 2004.
A six-month spell at Peterborough United followed in the second half of the 2005/06 season, before he returned to Chester City in July 2006. No longer in the new manager's plans by January 2008, he joined struggling Wrexham on a free transfer and made 18 appearances in their ultimately unsuccessful battle against relegation from the Football League, and at the end of July he joined the U's.
