Cambridge Fans United presented Cambridge City FC with a birthday present to remember this week.

CFU handed an engraved silver platter to the Lilywhites, who celebrate their 100th anniversary on August 28th. The ceremony took place during the half time interval of Tuesday's friendly match between the two clubs at Milton Road.

Andy Dunn, chairman of Cambridge City supporters trust, said, "The platter looks fantastic and will take pride of place in our boardroom. We'd like to thank CFU for this wonderful gift."

Fans from both clubs took part in the presentation, including Harold Warne, who has been a City supporter for more than 50 years.

CFU committee member Robert Osborn commented, "It was fantastic to see supporters from several different generations come together to celebrate City's centenary. Here's to another 100 years of success for both clubs."

Kevin Rye from Supporters Direct commented, "We are proud of the work done by both CFU and Cambridge City Supporters Trust over a number of years. Without the two trusts and the commitment of the supporters, football in Cambridge would be very much poorer, and I would go so far as to say that, both clubs have their supporters' trusts to thank for their continued existence.

"I also know that both face significant challenges over the coming months and years, and I wish both well, and would like to underscore our continued commitment to both.

"Obviously special congratulations go to City in the year of their 100th anniversary, and I hope that both they - and United - are around for many years to come."
