Big Mac's Apology to Fans
Lee McEvilly completed his loan at Cambridge United with Sunday's Play-off Final appearance and was desperately sorry not to be able to finish on a high.
"If we had managed to get the equaliser I think we would have gone on to win it but that goal just wouldn't come," he said afterwards.
"It was hard out there, so different from what you are used to week in, week out. You'll normally hear shouts but out there you couldn't hear because of the noise the crowd makes.
"It was a tough match but I thought we were the better side particularly in the second half. It summed everything up when Mark (Peter)'s chance was cleared off the line.
"I've got to say a big sorry to those fans out there," he added. "They were fantastic as always, but it was Exeter's day and good luck to them - I hope they do this league proud next season. I just wish it was us."
McEvilly's own future is currently uncertain as his contract is up for renewal and Accrington Stanley have already confirmed that he is on their list of released players, so the big Scouser is now looking for a new club.
