Buckle: "No Disgrace"
Torquay manager Paul Buckle was generous in defeat after seeing Rob Wolleaston grab a sensational late winner for United to end his side's unbeaten home record.
The Gulls boss had seen Elliott Benyon cancel out Lee Boylan's opening goal within a minute just before the first half, but United took all three points with his classy step-over and finish four minutes from time and afterwards he commented, "You are always disappointed to lose, but I felt we competed well today.
"I feel that we pushed forward the whole game and in the end it was a disappointing goal to give away. But I've said to the players if you are going to lose then you will lose giving it a go, and I felt we did that today. It's no disgrace in losing, especially to a good side like Cambridge. It was two scruffy goals that Cambridge scored but good luck to them.
"The winning goal itself came from a quick change around of possession. We had the ball with Zebroski and we lost it and Cambridge counterattacked us, but again - as we have in many a match this year - we were trying to win the game and sometimes that goes against you.
"We were doing all the running towards the end and the ball was in their half for the majority of the second half. I thought the game was heading for a draw that probably both managers would've accepted."
Buckle was the latest opposition manager to say he believes United will provide a challenge at the top end of the table this season and concluded, "I think they'll be up there. They are a big strong side and their battling qualities showed when we had them under the cosh for long periods.
"They were very resilient, dealing well with the balls we put into the box, and on another day against another team we will get on the end of those chances and score two or three. But today was Cambridge's day. They showed their qualities throughout, so good luck to them."
