Cambridge United had to come from behind again but were leading with seven minutes remaining, goals from Marvin Robinson on his full debut and midfielder Rob Wolleaston putting United in the driving seat, until slack defending allowed ten man Halifax to snatch a point near the end.

"It's very disappointing," admitted Jimmy Quinn. "We should have controlled the game better but we got to 2-1 and we stopped doing what we're good at, then we became a little bit nervous and the goal was shocking, to be honest. We went quiet, we didn't talk enough to each other, and the good thing is that we got a point out of the game!

"Halifax had to work a bit harder because they were down to ten men and I told the lads at half-time that if we took our foot off the gas we would cause ourselves problems. We did really well to get into a 2-1 lead and then we stopped doing the things that we'd been doing well.

"And we looked nervous," he added. "I hate to see players looking nervous - there's no reason for that at all. It's not as if they're in Iraq with people firing bullets at them, it's a game of football and we should have controlled that game."

Halifax's equaliser came from a throw-in into the box that was not cleared and defender Cortez Belle found time and space to control the ball and fire it home with seven minutes remaining.

"I'm disappointed with the goal because we just stopped talking," said Quinn, "but having said that I thought we had three or four good chances to kill them off and to make it 3-1 and that's what the game is all about.

"If you don't take your chances, particularly in this league, teams are always going to get a chance against you and Halifax did exactly that. I thought we could have dealt with the ball better and we were happy just to get it out for a throw-in, which came into our box and then we didn't defend it well enough.

"You have to give Halifax credit because they kept going and the lad up front gave us problems with his pace, but I'm disappointed because we got a point out of the game but it feels like we lost."

Loanee striker Marvin Robinson had another eventual game. Sent off on his U's debut ten days ago, he started today in place of Leo Fortune-West and scored in the first half to level the scores, then had a goal disallowed for offside moments after Rob Wolleaston had put United ahead, and was booked for diving just before Halifax equalised.

"Marvin said that the goalkeeper definitely touched him and he went down, and there would be no reason for him to go down because he was actually past the keeper so it was a nailed-on penalty for me," stated Quinn.

"The keeper never got anywhere near the ball and whether he's touched Marvin or Marvin's gone over him it's a penalty. We should have had one last week and our player got booked instead, we should have had one this week, so hopefully it's third time lucky. I thought the referee was too happy to blow the whistle at all times today."

Quinn declared himself happy with Robinson's first full game for United, but views the result as two points dropped: "I thought Marvin did very well. He was a threat all the time and could have had another couple of goals. I didn't see the one he knocked in that was disallowed because I was too far away from the play, but it's just disappointing today.

"We should have won the game, let's face it, and it's two points dropped."

United are next in action at home to Rushden & Diamonds on Tuesday at 7.45pm.
