Lee Boylan scored a goal deep in stoppage time after coming off the bench for his first appearance since the end of August.

He admitted it was a frustrating experience to sit on the sidelines with an ankle injury as United racked up the points without him, and he is looking forward to helping United bounce back from their first defeat of the season.

"On a personal note it was good to get around 35 minutes of football under my belt after being out for a month," he said.

"I'm happy with the way I came through fitness-wise and of course I'm always pleased to get a goal. I hadn't scored in the previous two before I got injured so to be on the scoresheet gives me at least something positive out of the defeat.

"We are all disappointed with the result and losing the unbeaten streak but I think we must look back and see that we went 12 games without defeat before this, and we must build on that and go out and start another run this coming Saturday against Halifax.

"Defeat is not something we will let get to us," he added. "I've come through the game OK and I would love to have a midweek match this week because I want to get games under my belt having been out for so long.

"But I'm sure we will benefit with the time on the training pitch and we can regroup and build for the next game against Halifax. We'll be out to start another run and want the crowd behind us in numbers like they were against Aldershot."

Former U's striker Danny Carey-Bertram was a second half substitute for Forest Green and he admitted that he would have liked to have scored.

Danny Carey-Bertram on the ball"I'm really happy with the result but disappointed not to score. Perhaps I had to long to think about finishing the chance I had," he commented.

"I knew Cambridge would be a tough game - they've got some good players but on the day we were too much for them to handle. We made Cambridge resort to route one and until the goal at the end I don't think we were really under any pressure.

"As a team we're really starting to gel and I think we are now becoming a match for anyone in this league. When you can beat a massive team like Cambridge you know that we can go all the way."
