After Saturday's hard fought draw at Exeter City, three United players reflected on the game and our start to the season.

First was U's Man of the Match Michael Morrison:

"We hadn't got a result here before in this league so we should be happy in taking a point, but really it should've been three. Rob and Leo both had chances at the end.

"But after the start we had, to be in the position to get the equaliser and push on to almost win it was pleasing. But we have to start better and that's something that - other than the Farsley game - we haven't really managed to do."

'Morro' added, "We were expecting Exeter to attack us as they have some decent forwards, so the plan was to match them and then use our wide players and free up Courtney and Dan to get the ball forward, and that worked quite well in the second half. We got good deliveries over the box for Leo and Scott who are both over 6 feet tall so it worked very well."

Saturday's performance was probably Morrison's best of the season so far and he admitted, "Personally, I still don't think I've got started this season so the performance was pleasing because I felt I played as good as I can play.

"Hopefully I can take this form into the game against Crawley and then the following Tuesday against Altrincham."

Wingback Courtney Pitt was next to share his thoughts:

"We are pleased with the result, especially as we didn't start well. We were a much better team in the second half and we're disappointed we didn't take one of the chances we had to finish them off.

"We felt in the first half we weren't playing to our strengths. Obviously, playing three at the back with five in midfield we need to get the ball wide and get it into the box for the lads up front.

"In the second half we tried to employ that and it worked well. It also helped in cutting down how they were attacking us down our flanks which caused us problems in the first half. We worked hard in midfield to stop the supply of balls out wide, so it was harder for them to get the ball to their players who had caused us problems in the first half."

Looking ahead to our next game, at home to Crawley on Saturday, Courtney added, "We don't really worry about other teams - we know what we are capable of and on our day we have the players and ability to beat any team in this league.

"We showed that today and should've won today. Especially at home we are confident we can always take three points.

Finally midfielder Rob Wolleaston spoke about United's "winning attitude":

"I think towards the end of the match, and also because of the heat, there were tired legs and minds for both sides and that gave us the chances at the end. A point is something before the game we would have been happy with, but it would've been so much better to reward the fans who made such a long trip with three points.

"How we battled back today just builds the team's confidence," he added. "We always felt in the second half we could get back into the game and get something. I don't think that would have been the case in the past but we have a winning attitude now and performances like the second half today can only help to build that."
