After seeing his Exeter side pegged back for a 1-1 draw on Saturday, Paul Tisdale thinks Cambridge United have a good chance of success this season.

"Cambridge's start speaks for itself, they haven't lost a game yet and they are very well organised," he said after seeing Scott Rendell's goal snatch a point for the U's in a tightly-contested match.

"It's very difficult to cast a considered opinion on the game because it was so close - even in injury time both side had chances to win it. We are disappointed having been a goal up and conceding a second half goal, which is the second time we have done that this year so that's not perfect for us but we are not taking anything for granted.

"This game is tough against good sides and Cambridge are a good side and I think they are one of the teams that have a chance for promotion this year. So anything you get other than a tough examination this year against these teams is a bonus.

"Today it was just that for 90 minutes and it could have gone either way, and that it ended as a draw could be seen as a fair result. In terms of actual chances on goal I think we shaded it but it was so close without examining the stats it is impossible to say."

On United's prospects this season, Tisdale warned that it is still early in the season, but he sees promising signs for the U's: "I think you're looking at a Cambridge side that will be challenging for the play-offs at least and I think they'll provide anyone a tough opposition.

"But we won't really know until halfway through the year when the league has settled down. We may look back and see this as a big point for us. You don't know these things until later on, but if Cambridge are top at the end of the year you will take a home point from this match.

"The players Cambridge have in their side, the way they play and their organisation gives them a good chance to succeed this year."
