United lost their 100% record, but remain unbeaten after a tense game at Kingfield. The point means the U's share first place with Exeter City and Torquay United.
Jimmy Quinn made one change to the side that beat Farsley Celtic 5-1 on Tuesday night, calling up Mark Peters in place of Gavin Hoyte, the latest player to suffer the effects of the bug that has affected the squad recently.
Woking boss Frank Gray also made a change, calling up Jerome Maledon in place of the suspended Matt Pattison.
United, wearing striped home shirts with white away shorts to avoid a clash with Woking's red and white halved kit, started brightly and Darren Quinton's second minute free kick was collected by Gindre after Leo Fortune-West was sent flying by Gasson, and the U's followed up with two early corners, Pitt's fumbled round the post by Gindre and wingback Matt Ruby hacking Quinton's subsequent flagkick away.
In the ninth minute Woking's Quamina launched a shot wide from 20 yards, while two minutes later Darren Quinton's free kick flew through the wall but just wide, and on 13 Quinton found Fortune-West breaking through on goal but his shot flew just wide of the post.
United's first moment of danger came on 16 as Morgan ran at the defence, but Danny Potter came out quickly to block, and recovered to collect the rebound.
Woking keeper Nick Gindre came out to save bravely from Fortune-West in the 20th minute but stayed down, Fortune-West signalling immediately for the physio, and the keeper was eventually stretchered off to be replaced by debutant Ross Worner, a youngster who came through Woking's youth ranks.
The tackles had been flying in during a competitive half and Lee Boylan collected the first booking when he clattered Cards skipper Tom Hutchinson in the 27th minute, but former U Danny Bunce joined him two minutes later for a foul on Quinton.
Potter saved Sole's deep free kick on 31 following Dan Gleeson's foul on Morgan, while at the other end Worner passed his first test when claiming a high ball under pressure from Fortune-West a minute later.
Jimmy Quinn was forced into an early change when Darren Quinton made way for Stephen Reed in the 34th minute and the midfielder was welcomed to the game by Lambu with a high challenge two minutes later, Lambu becoming the third man to be booked.
The match was petering out towards half-time when Courtney Pitt raced away to the byline and lifted a cross that was just too high for Fortune-West. United kept the pressure on in stoppage time and Wolleaston made a strong run, pulling the ball back for Reed whose 35-yarder was deflected behind, and at the corner Wolleaston closed in but was just beaten to the ball by Quamina.
Half-time summary by match commentator Mark Johnson:
"A hot day and some hot tempers in a tetchy half, notable for two main features - the injury to Woking keeper Nick Gindre and the ongoing feud between Leo Fortune-West and Paul Lorraine. United had the better possession but so far have yet to really test either Woking keeper."
Second half:
United started strongly and earned an early corner but Lee Boylan couldn't connect with the ball in the area and although it ran for Mark Albrighton it fell awkwardly between his feet and the defender was unable to get the shot away.
Wolleaston launched a shot over 55 minutes in but chances were few and far between as the pace dropped in the heat and the players struggled with the dry and dusty pitch.
Jimmy Quinn made a double change in the 67th minute, bringing on the fresh legs of Stephen Smith and Scott Rendell for Gleeson and Boylan, and Gray followed suit by bringing on Michael Charles for Sole in the 70th minute.
Fortune-West turned and had a rare shot on goal in the 77th minute but the ball smacked against the barriers behind the goal, and three minutes later the big striker had the best chance to score when he was released by Wolleaston and beat the offside trap, but he put the shot wide.
Moments later, United were almost caught out when, from the resulting goal kick from Worner, Marvin Morgan broke clear but his right-footed 35 yarder was saved by Danny Potter.
On 84 minutes, Lambu burst into the area, Albrighton made a thunderous tackle to put the ball behind for a corner, but United cleared their lines.
With three minutes left, Pitt's jinking run into the area put him clear, but his shot rose over the bar. United did have their chances, but had to settle for one point to keep their unbeaten run going.

Mark Johnson's Match Summary:
"United's 100% record has ended but their unbeaten start to the season is still intact after this draw at Woking. A tetchy first half was marked by an injury to the Woking goalkeeper and a running feud between a defender and Leo Fortune-West, and although both sides tired after the break United had the best of the possession and chances to win the match. At the other end, United's obdurate defence rarely gave Woking a sight of goal and it says much about United's start to the season that they are a little disappointed at being second in the table on goals scored."
Mark Johnson's Man of the Match:
"Mark Peters - at the heart of an obdurate defence, he came back into the side looking as though he's never been away. Honourable mentions to Mark Albrighton for a wholehearted performance at the back, and Courtney Pitt who was a constant thorn in Woking's side."
Ref Watch: "Mr Linnington - had a difficult game and just about managed to keep a lid on it. 6/10"
