United were made to work hard for their 2-0 win against an Altrincham side that belied their fifth-from-bottom position.  Lee McEvilly scored in his second consecutive home game to put United ahead on 23 but visiting keeper Stuart Coburn was inspired and prevented United from extending the lead.

It looked costly when the visitors equalised with ten minutes left, but Mark Convery's deflected shot restored the lead five minutes from time and the midfielder disappeared under a pile of his team-mates.
